Kiama Braves won an extra-innings elimination final cliffhanger, while Wests Cardinals scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth against Dapto Chiefs in Illawarra baseball thrillers on Saturday.
Braves kept their season alive outlasting Northern Pirates 4-2 in 10 innings, while Cardinals are into Saturday week's best-of-three grand final following a 6-5 win over premiers Dapto Chiefs.
At Fred Finch Park, Braves veteran pitcher Jamie Simon and Pirates opposite Brendan Lower were on the mound for all 10 digs in one of the great pitching duels.
Simon threw a staggering 166 pitches for seven hits, while Lower threw 157 pitches, giving up just 10 hits.
Braves broke a 2-2 deadlock with two runs in the top of the 10th, with Simon finishing the job in arguably the outstanding pitching performance of the season.
Matt Sneddon, Dave Barlow and Brett Single had two hits each for Braves, while Dean Newson and Kyle Dutton had two hits for Pirates.
Braves take on Chiefs in Saturday's preliminary final at Hector Harvey Reserve.
Cardinals booked a grand final spot after breaking a 5-5 deadlock in the bottom of the ninth innings at Cringila Park.
At one out, Callen Robertson was Cards' hero with the bat in the ninth after Chiefs desperately tried to turn a double-play to prevent the winning run crossing the plate.
Robertson and Cards teammates Nathan Grogan and Scott Sartori had two hits each, while Dean Leighton hit two doubles for Chiefs and teammates Jarrett Commane and Stuart McCarthy had two hits.
Meanwhile, in second grade Cardinals are through to the grand final following a 9-3 win over NorthernPirates in the major semi-final.

In third grade, Pirates are into the grand final after a 10-8 win over Cards in their major semi. Braves eliminated Berkeley Eagles 7-6 in the minor semi.
