Temperatures topped 30 degrees across the Illawarra on Tuesday as strong north-westerly winds brought heat from central Australia into the region.
The temperature at Bellambi weather station reached 31.3 degrees at 1.16pm on Tuesday after wind gusts of up to 74km/h were recorded in the morning.
Albion Park also recorded a top temperature of 31 degrees, Kiama reached 30 degrees and Nowra reached 28.
NSW paramedics treated 44 people for asthma difficulties as a result of the high pollen count, winds and temperatures.
According to Weatherzone, the pollen count will fall as the winds change direction and temperature drops. Cloud will increase today with a top temperature of 21 degrees expected in Wollongong.
There is a chance of showers on Wednesday and Friday with temperatures reaching 20 degrees.
