Peoplecare's head of people and culture, Maree Morgan-Monk, has been named Australian Human Resources Manager of the Year at the Australian HR Awards in Sydney.
Mrs Morgan-Monk was named the winner in a room full of HR industry leaders at the awards earlier this month. The annual awards event celebrates outstanding achievements in people management.
The Australian HR Manager of the Year Award recognises an individual who has displayed excellence at the management level.
The judges said Mrs Morgan-Monk had successfully managed internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of HR programs.
They said she had created and implemented an HR strategy that achieved organisational objectives and had created a motivated, effective and driven HR team.
Peoplecare chief executive Michael Bassingthwaighte said Mrs Morgan-Monk was a true testament to Peoplecare's culture.
"As a talented and dynamic member of our executive team, Maree has been a driving force behind our unique workplace culture," Mr Bassingthwaighte said.
"We are thrilled that the whole country now knows what we already knew. She is the best!"
Mrs Morgan-Monk has 20 years of HR management experience in various industries including education, hospitality and general insurance.
As the head of people and culture at the not-for-profit health fund, she is responsible for ensuring Peoplecare's people processes and practices are smooth and efficient.
She supports all managers and staff in the areas of recruitment, training and development, work health and safety, human resources policy and cultural development.
Mrs Morgan-Monk said she was humbled by the recognition.
"I was truly flattered to be nominated by my own team," she said. "I've always said that I've got the greatest job, and working for such a supportive, encouraging and unique company makes it so enjoyable."
The national health insurer employs 90 people.
