The number of evening peak hour services to Wollongong has been halved under a new rail timetable released today.
The current timetable shows there are eight trains leaving Central between 5pm-6.30pm that stop at Wollongong station.
In the new timetable there are only four trains that leave Central and stop at Wollongong.
Those four trains all reach Wollongong quicker than the existing quickest evening Central-Wollongong trip of 95 minutes. Two are eight minutes faster.
The number of morning services to Central between 5.45am and 7.30am increases from six to seven.
But four of the trains on the new timetable arrive at Central several minutes faster than the fastest train at present.
