• Daily holiday guide: 70 fun activities for kids in the Illawarra
The school holidays were off to a great start over the weekend with the sunshine creating the perfect conditions for a day at the park.
Kids were blowing bubbles, enjoying delicious picnic spreads and holding epic games of football at the Wollongong Botanic Garden on Sunday as they celebrated the first days of their two-week break from the classroom.
Jack Crehan, 10, was most looking forward to playing with his friends and enjoying a few games of cricket, while Caitlin Daly, 9, was planning as many days at the beach with her dad as possible before she went back to school.
Illawarra kids will always have something to do these school holidays, with a huge range of activities on in the region.
From discos to dinosaurs, cooking classes to craft workshops, treasure hunts to tennis coaching, games of football and soccer for sport lovers or painting sessions and jewellery making for budding artists, there is an activity to keep every child entertained and prevent the dreaded "I'm bored" over the next 14 days.
