St George Illawarra continue to build their forward depth for next year, granting Leeson Ah Mau a two-year contract extension that keeps him at the club until the end of 2015.
Ah Mau, who has been drafted into Samoa’s preliminary squad for the World Cup, figured in 15 NRL matches for the Dragons this season.
‘‘I am happy to be continuing my playing career with such a proud club like the Dragons,’’ Ah Mau said.
‘‘The club offers a real positive environment which I am happy to be a part of and I look forward to repaying the faith they have shown in me.
‘‘My focus now is preparing mentally and physically for a strong pre-season and doing my part for the entire squad.’’
The Dragons will boast a vastly different roster heading into 2014, with Matt Cooper and Nathan Fien both retiring, while Michael Weyman is bound for the English Super League. Regular first graders Matt Prior and Chase Stanley have also been moved on.
But Ah Mau did enough to warrant an extension at the end of a year where he also made his international debut for Samoa against Tonga.
