A 44-year-old Dapto man was arrested last night after barricading himself in his home with a nail gun for four hours.
Police were called to the home in Rink Road at 5.50pm by a member of the public who said they saw the man smash a window.
When police arrived, he allegedly brandished a nail gun and made verbal threats. Officers established a perimeter around the premises and called in special unit police and negotiators for assistance.
Rink Road was closed off as emergency service vehicles filled up the car park of Dapto Citizens' Bowling Club.
After numerous failed attempts to communicate with the man, police forced their way into the home shortly after 10pm and found him in the bedroom.
He was arrested without incident and taken to Shellharbour Hospital for assessment.
