Illawarra Cycle Club member Catherine Hooton will take on the world this weekend when she heads to England to represent her club and country at the UCI World Masters Track Cycling Championships.
Hooton won three bronze medals at the Australian Masters Track Championships in Perth earlier this year in the 40-44 years women's division and will line up for the sprint, individual time trial, team sprint and scratch race.
The married mother of one from Ulladulla has been training for five years under former Olympian Illawarra Cycle Club coach Gary Mandy and is hopeful of collecting a medal after her nationals successes in the 500-metre time trial, sprint and the two-lap teams sprint with Sydney rider Kristie Dolton.
"I hope my hard work pays off and the faith shown in me by others pays off," Hooton said.
Riders from 28 countries will contest the championships at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.
