Plenty of sunshine is expected across the Illawarra this long weekend.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s Francois Geffroy said Thursday’s forecast of cooler weather with the chance of showers would only briefly interrupt the run of warm spring weather.
The maximum temperature in Wollongong is expected to be 19 degrees on Thursday, but Mr Geffroy said the sun would return on Friday.
‘‘Things should be fine with the temperature slowly warming up from the colder day on Thursday,’’ Mr Geffroy said. ‘‘Over the weekend, we’re looking at finer conditions on Saturday, and Sunday looks fine as well. We’re looking at temperatures getting close to 30 along a large portion of the Illawarra.’’
For those planning to spend some of their long weekend at the beach, Mr Geffroy said Sunday would be best, but Saturday morning would also be pleasant.
Things will cool down a bit on the public holiday Monday, with a southerly change expected in the morning. But Mr Geffroy said it should still be a pleasant day in the Illawarra, with temperatures in the mid-20s.
