Tweenies are invited to share in the Highlights for Hope salon action with highlights, coloured clip-in extensions and even diamantes at La Mode Hair and Beauty during the school holidays this week.
At Westfield Figtree, the salon offers a wide range of retail accessories for hair, including the latest clip-in highlight extensions.
Our young beauties, Jessica Ellis, 13, and Stephanie Paiola, 14, stepped up to enjoy some pampering and were glad to be supporting Highlights for Hope as the campaign for Mental Health Month gets under way.
Patrice Cook, proprietor of La Mode Hair and Beauty, worked her magic as she combined an interesting braid across the back of Jessica's head to one side, gathering her long hair in an explosion of tonged drop curls.
Blackberry and white coloured clip-in extensions add a little fun and colour, but the real highlight was the delicate diamante strip placed across the top of this fanciful do, ideal for a school formal or special occasion.
It was enlightening to hear Jessica's comment: "I am really happy to be involved with Highlights for Hope, it was fun and I am glad to support this cause," she said.
Meanwhile, I lent a hand to Stephanie's more casual party look, twisting contrasts together and again, adding lots of colour with clip-in extensions to co-ordinate with her dress for the day.
These clip-in bits are a really cool way for young tweenies to add some colour for a fun party or special occasion, without a trace the next day. "I knew I was helping an important fund-raising campaign and I had fun in the salon, but now I have learnt how important it is to raise awareness," Stephanie said. "I have heard lots of people talking openly about mental health this week and I am glad to be part of Highlights for Hope."
The clip-in coloured extensions are very affordable, priced from $9 per extension. "They sell as fast as we get them in," Patrice said. So for all the school formals that are coming up, there is a great range of accessories, feathers, extensions, bits and pieces to choose from at La Mode Hair and Beauty.
It boasts a staff of 16, which makes La Mode one of the biggest salons in the Illawarra. Patrice herself has been hairdressing for 22 years.
Patrice invites new customers to enjoy the discount through mentioning Highlights for Hope and she says she is a great supporter of the initiative to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Light and Hope Clubhouse in the Illawarra. Raffle tickets for the cause are available at La Mode, so support our cause and be in the draw for great prizes, November 6 at the Novotel Hotel.
