The Great Southern Blues Festival is returning to Narooma this year, three years after it was moved to Batemans Bay.
Over the long weekend, patrons can chill out to more than 30 local and international blues performers, including Australian favourites Ash Grunwald and Claude Hay and American acts The Holmes Brothers and Popa Chubby with Sari Schorr.
The Holmes Brothers, who have been playing together for 40 years, stopped at North Beach for a coffee yesterday to break up their long drive from the airport to the festival.
Sherman Holmes, the band’s bass player, singer and pianist, said people could expect to have a lot of fun during their set.
‘‘I like music that makes people respond, that makes people happy. I like playing live for the interaction with people,’’ he said.
The festival is on this weekend at Smyth Oval in Narooma. Overnight stays are available at the adjacent Mojos Camping Village and the NRL grand final will be shown at the festival.
