Canadian act The John Manx Band, John John Festival from Japan, The Beez from Germany and Afenginn from Denmark are the first big names to be announced for the festival, which will once again take over Bulli Showground from January 16-19.
Gambia, Ireland, the US, the UK and Brazil will also be represented among more than 130 acts and artists from across the world, alongside a strong Illawarra and Australian contingent.
More than 10,000 people flock to the folk festival each year, and with the bumper line-up in January another big crowd is expected.
Returning to the program this year are the Youth Traditions Awards, which aim to encourage young people to take up traditional folk music.
“These awards reward and recognise youth artists who perform traditional folk songs and tunes and keep the rich folk traditions thriving,” said festival artistic director, David De Santi.
