South Coast residents are being encouraged to speak up about their health needs in a comprehensive survey being conducted by the Illawarra-Shoalhaven Medicare Local (ISML).
The Survey for Health Consumers of the Illawarra-Shoalhaven is a follow-up from the recently released Illawarra-Shoalhaven Population Health Profile: 2013 which provided information on the community’s health needs and highlighted gaps in services.
ISML population health and planning manager Abhijeet Ghosh said the new survey would ensure a comprehensive health and services snapshot of the region.
He said the results would be used to improve primary health service planning in local communities.
‘‘Information on what the community perceives as their health needs and barriers to their healthcare delivery is invaluable and part of comprehensive health planning,’’ he said.
‘‘All of ISML’s population health planning initiatives are aimed to be community-centred. This survey will assist ISML to understand the needs of our healthcare providers and the community.
The 15-minute survey is available online at surveymonkey.com/s/myhealthsay and can also be accessed through local council websites and at council libraries.
An additional survey is also being conducted to gain the perspectives of healthcare providers on local health needs and service gaps. This can be accessed here.
