Ill-fated Gwenda Markwell-trained galloper Rolling Pin scooped one final prize after being named the Provincial Horse of the Year at the 2013 NSW Country and Provincial Racing Awards dinner last Friday night.
A pair of black type wins and a Group 1 Epsom third-placing in the 2012-13 season was enough for the gelding to secure the accolade.
The title is the second Rolling Pin was awarded in recent months, joining the NSW's Provincial Horse of the Year crown he received at Racing Night of Champions in August.
Rolling Pin's career was tragically cut short in April this year when he broke down just metres after the line in a fourth placed finish in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m)
Jockey Christian Reith, who guided Rolling Pin to victory in the Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) at Newcastle, was a deserving winner of the Provincial Jockey of the Year crown.
