Lake Illawarra star Caitlin Foord is in a race against time to be fit for Sydney FC's W-League campaign.
The 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup best young player wasn't named in the Matildas squad travelling to play the United States in San Antonio next week, as she recovers from a series of foot-related problems which have kept her sidelined for three months.
"It is the longest injury I have had and it was harder when I was in the US [playing for Sky Blue FC] because when I got injured it was towards the end of the season and I had [to] miss the most important games like the semi-finals," Foord said.
"It is coming along all right, I have only just started some easy running."
If Foord can make her return for Sydney's round-one W-League clash with the Melbourne Victory on November 10th, she could put herself in contention to rejoin Matildas squad for their match with China at WIN Stadium on November 24.
