Daniel Stefas grew up in the shadow of the Port Kembla stack, so it's only fitting that he was named winner of a photographic competition focusing on the iconic landmark.
Daniel entered four images in the Stack by Night competition and exhibition at Art Arena Gallery and his winning entry is our Weekender cover shot.
It was organised by the Stack 360 group, which wants to stop the stack's demolition and have it turned into a tourist attraction. The exhibition features photos taken during a series of evenings when the stack was bathed in different lights.
Daniel was inspired by what he saw in his neighbourhood, which included the stack.
"It's just the things that people walk past and don't appreciate until they're gone," he says. "So with the stack I thought I'd try and do it a bit of justice in case it gets knocked down. Because it is a part of my history as well."
Organiser Walter Pritchard said the idea for an exhibition came from the photographers who had gathered around the stack when it was lit up.
"When we did that, it inspired people, and within 24 hours we had photographers begging us to put the lights back up again so they could take pictures from Hill 60."
The exhibition, plus an array of historical photos, is on display until today at Art Arena Gallery, Market Street, Wollongong.
