Fortunately, according to Blake Tatroe, the rubber is so thick it rarely happens.
Mr Tatroe is the regional marketing director of Feld Entertainment, which is bringing the US monster truck show Monster Jam to Sydney next Saturday for its only Australian show.
‘‘It’s not common for them to pop a tyre,’’ Mr Tatroe said.
‘‘If they do, it’d be because they’ve caught something off the side of one of the crushed cars that are out there in the arena. But it doesn’t matter – they could lose an entire wheel, and only have three on the truck and still be performing. 1500 horsepower takes care of that.’’
The show, at ANZ Stadium, features 12 trucks showing their aerobatic skills.
‘‘The first part of the show is monster jam racing,’’ he said.
‘‘The second part of the show will be freestyle monster jam, which is really what most of the fans have come to enjoy.’’
One of the monster trucks, known as Grave Digger, will be visiting Wollongong on Saturday. The truck, and driver Dan Evans, will be in lower Crown Street Mall from 11am to 2pm.
