A Cabramatta man has been accused of contacting a 15-year-old Illawarra girl via a social networking site, promising to sign her up for "modelling work, before sexually assaulting her.
Last month, detectives from the Child Abuse Squad's Wollongong Unit were made aware of reports that a man had approached the teen via a social networking site, before arranging to meet her and engaging her in a sexual act.
Police claim the 30-year-old man sent the Illawarra girl a message on a social networking site in July.
Over the course of the next two months, the man continued to converse with the teen via their social network accounts and through SMS messaging, police will allege.
It is alleged the man arranged to meet the girl in Ambarvale on September 8.
Detectives will allege the man had told the teen he wanted to meet her to sign her up for modelling work.
However, during the meeting, the man allegedly sexually assaulted the girl.
Police from State Crime Command's Child Abuse Squad arrested and charged the 30-year-old man yesterday.
He was taken to Cabramatta Police Station where he was charged with a number of sexual offences.
The man was refused bail to front Liverpool Local Court today.
