At this weekend’s Lifeline Big Book Fair one rare book will come with a $2300 price tag.
The 1945 first edition of Ballet features 104 black-and-white photos of leading Russian ballet companies on tour, taken by Alexey Brodovitch.
It is one of a record 115,000 books at Illawarra Sports Stadium at Berkeley from tomorrow.
If a $2300 book is outside your budget, there is a program from the 1925 Hollywood premiere of the Charlie Chaplin film Gold Rush – for just $150. Still too much? Well, for the first time, the book sale includes an economy section, where fiction, non-fiction and children’s books will be priced between $1 and 50 cents.
There will, of course, also be books in a wide range of genre – fiction, reference, hobbies, travel, art, science, children’s books, history, biography and more.
The sale, raising money for Lifeline South Coast, runs from 9am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday. Entry is by gold coin, and eftpos will be available.
