A warning has been issued to South Coast residents about a gang of travelling con men offering painting services.
The group, who sport Irish accents, have reportedly been cold calling businesses in Pambula and Moama with a sales pitch for same-day line marking for car parks and other painting services at special prices.
Fair Trading Commissioner Rod Stowe said there has been increased sightings of the con men in NSW in the past weeks. They are reportedly heading towards Canberra.
A business operator told Fair Trading they were driving a white van with a black roof rack with Victorian number plates reading ZOZ 502.
Mr Stowe said anyone with any information about the group or their whereabouts should call the Travelling Conmen Hotline on 1300 133 408.
“Do not deal with these people,” he warned.
“They specialise in ripping off regional people and businesses and have no licence to do the
work they are offering. They will take your money and run.”
