Illawarra motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays on Sunday due to road closures for the MS Sydney to the Gong charity bike ride.
A Transport Management Centre spokesman said thousands of cyclists would take part in the ride, which starts at St Peters and Engadine and would finish at Stuart Park, North Wollongong, by 4pm.
‘‘Motorists and cyclists will be sharing the roadway for much of the event on Sunday, so keep an eye out for each other and follow the directions of emergency services personnel on the ground,’’ he said.
‘‘There will be large groups of cyclists on roads between Stanwell Park and Wollongong, so motorists will have to take extra care in these areas.’’
