A four-bedroom cottage at Thirroul, within walking distance of the suburb’s shops and beaches, has been listed for sale.
The property at 5 Bean Street is a 1910 cottage that has been completely restored, yet still honours the home’s heritage, with features such as leadlight windows.
Listed with Trever Molenaar, of McGrath Real Estate Wollongong and Thirroul, the home is set on a 1132 square metre block.
‘‘It’s a large block and what makes it a little bit unusual is that Bean Street is a highly sought-after street and the homes there are tightly held and don’t come onto the market very often.’’
Mr Molenaar said the home featured two large separate living areas with timber floors and fireplace.
In addition, there was an upstairs parents’ retreat with ensuite, bedroom, balcony and study.
The contemporary kitchen had Caesarstone benches, and the indoor-outdoor dining area flowed out on to a large private terrace, Mr Molenaar said.
The home will be auctioned onsite on Saturday, November 30, at 3.45pm. Mr Molenaar said the price guide for the sale would be more than $795,000.
The cottage is open for inspection on Saturday from 10.30am to 11.30am.
Sensitive design
A six-bedroom Thirroul property that unites sensitive architecture and landscape design, known as Jaraga Estate, is on the market.
Jaraga, which means ‘‘good place by the water’’, more than lives up to its name, according to agent Wayne Bennett, of Urban Property Thirroul.
Mr Bennett said the estate was set on more than two hectares of landscaped gardens, lake and remnant rainforest, with ocean views.
The architect-designed split-level main dwelling featured double brick walls, a grandly proportioned living/dining room with timber-lined cathedral ceilings, polished kauri floors, arched dormer windows and slow-combustion fireplace.
The master suite with sitting room had a fully fitted dressing room and double bathroom. The master suite and guest double bedroom had direct access to an outside terrace and garden. Two upper bedrooms were included in the main dwelling.
Mr Bennett said the second dwelling had two upper bedrooms, a deck and store room, ground-floor bathroom and open-plan kitchen living area.
A fenced pony paddock was situated to the north-east end of the estate. The property also featured a mature garden designed around red cedars, turpentines and blackbutts.
A large lock-up garage and workshop had space for six vehicles, Mr Bennett said.
Inspections are available by appointment. The property will be auctioned onsite on Saturday, November 23, at 11am.
Spacious residence
Peter Taranto Real Estate has just listed a five-bedroom Kiama home with direct access to Loves Bay and the Kiama coast walk.
The property at 44 Anembo Crescent, named Solitaire, is an architect-designed home set on 1808 square metres of land on a private gated estate. Agent Paul Piacentin said the substantial home offered comfortable family living, plus guest accommodation. The balconies took advantage of the ocean and rural views.
Its features include a private main bedroom with personal balcony, en suite, full-size spa, his and hers walk-in wardrobes, and a dining area opening on to an outdoor balcony.
Mr Piacentin said there was a downstairs home theatre area, three-car accommodation and a separate cellar.
The property will be open for inspection tomorrow from 1pm to 2pm. Mr Piacentin is taking expressions of interest on the sale price.
Office building sold
The former Australian Taxation Office building at 10 Atchison Street, Wollongong, has been sold to a local investor.
The building has more than 5600sqm of vacant A-grade office space.
The property sale was negotiated by MMJWollongong and the Sydney-based CBRE.
Commercial and industrial sales agent for MMJ, Travis Machan, said it was a successful marketing campaign with a significant number of offers received locally and nationally. The purchaser did not want to disclose a price at this stage.
