The Steelworks Hotel at Port Kembla sold before auction last week in the vicinity of $2.3 million.
The hotel was listed with Sam Handy, of Jones Lang LaSalle, who said it featured a 24-hour liquor licence, 15 gaming machines, TAB, beer garden, 15 accommodation rooms and a manager’s residence.
“The incoming purchaser intends to take advantage of the pub’s close proximity to BlueScope Steel, the port of Port Kembla and the coal handling terminal,’’ Mr Handy said.
Built in 1880, the hotel was originally named the Great Eastern Hotel.
Escarpment views

Listed with Colliers International Wollongong, the home features 1.5 bathrooms, an outside entertaining area, two garden sheds and a single lock-up garage.

Milestone for house
A two-bedroom Gwynneville home, previously owned by the same person since 1942, sold for $565,000 at auction last weekend.
Raine and Horne Wollongong company director and sales agent Josh Kersten said it was a great sales result for the former owner, who has just gone into a nursing home and will turn 100 in January.
Mr Kersten said the weatherboard property at 12 Lucinda Street (pictured above), had been immaculately maintained.
‘‘It was a four-week campaign and there was a lot of interest in the property,’’ he said. ‘‘We had 65 groups of people go through the property for registered inspections, over the four-week period.’’

Ray White Helensburgh director Simon Beaufils then advertised the property in last Saturday’s Domain.
The Wombarra property will go to auction on Saturday, November 23, at 1.30pm.

Each weekly winner will also receive a full-page listing in Domain, valued at almost $9000.
