NSW Rural Fire Service crews were called to the incident, and were eventually able to remove the tree.
The incident was first reported about 2.50pm, and lanes were reopened about 4pm.
It was a day to keep the brolly handy on Monday.
More than 15 millimetres of rain was recorded at the Bureau of Meteorology’s Bellambi weather station to 5pm and a thick cloud cover kept temperatures from climbing beyond an unseasonably chilly 18.6 degrees.
The wind added to the weather misery, and at 2pm a peak gust of 64km/h was recorded at Bellambi.
Tuesday is tipped to be drier and warmer, with clearing showers and a maximum of 23degrees.
