Teachers vote for new award

NSW public school teachers have voted in favour of a new award, and also vowed to launch an industrial campaign against the state government’s public sector wages policy.

NSW Teachers Federation president Maurie Mulheron says the new award, to come into effect from next year, will protect the current working conditions and teaching standards and qualifications.

The award has also secured the maximum annual increase allowable under state law for the next three years.
