Mrs Makaude started thinking more about her dream while she was on maternity leave with her son for 12 months.
During that year, she decided to further investigate turning her idea into a business reality.
So she contacted the Illawarra Business Enterprise Centre at Illawarra ITeC and undertook a basic business course.
That dream became reality and Festoon Creative Spaces was born a few months ago.
Mrs Makaude's vision was to design, source and market unique decorator products.
Festoon Creative Spaces is initially operating as an online retail store with its base in Bulli.
The business's primary objective is to turn the spaces people inhabit, whether for work, play or rest, into something more inspirational.
"Interior decoration should not be a one-size-fits-all solution," she said.
"Festoon Creative Spaces aims to provide you with a range of quality items, ideas and inspiration that can be used in combination with new, existing or up-cycled furniture to create that special space. Bare walls can easily be enhanced with a unique print or adhesive wallpaper that can be sympathetic to your existing decor or can introduce a rich new element and interest to your interior spaces."
Festoon Creative Spaces was launched with more than 50 products that can be sent throughout Australia.
The business's website - festoon.com.au - has everything from plywood prints, to paper prints, wallpaper and furniture coverings and decorative knobs listed online.
The info@festoon.com.au email address is the best contact point for inquiries.
