Though members of the public gallery were vocal during all the councillors' speeches in the hour-long discussion about the financial services review, union members in attendance reserved their greatest criticism for Cr Crasnich.
The youngest councillor drew the ire of the union and council workers last week when he suggested that staff lacked efficiency.
He also said he believed work should be outsourced to cheaper workers, and union members were a "vocal minority" about whom the council "did not need to worry".
As Cr Crasnich spoke at the meeting and said he was not in favour of any rate rise, just one person in the audience began clapping.
"See how popular you are, you got one clap," a man in the public gallery yelled.
"You're a one-termer anyway, mate, you'll be gone next election."
Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery called the crowd to order many times, but the heckling continued.
"I want the views of all residents in this city, even ones that may not be in this room, to be heard ... and the last thing I'd want to do is offend anybody," Cr Crasnich said, before the room erupted into laughter and shouting.
"You already have," the man in the gallery shouted.
"Why don't you apologise to the council workers, mate. You want to get rid of them, don't you? Why don't you apologise for what you said to them?"
Cr Crasnich called the Mercury to say he would "not back down" after the union's behaviour.
"I was contemplating shutting up about the whole thing, but after [Monday night] I'm not going to do that," he said yesterday.
He said he stood by his previous comments and labelled the USU the "last bastion of old-style unionism" and said he thought it was "fighting for relevance".
"They know their time and relevance is coming to an end ... this is their death rattle," he said.
When told of Cr Crasnich's additional comments, USU regional organiser Paul Wesley said he would no longer engage with the councillor's "personal vendetta".
"We're perplexed as to why Cr Crasnich, against the good advice of his own colleagues, continues his tirade," Mr Wesley said.
"We note and echo the sentiment that was presented at the council meeting by most councillors, that they are extremely thankful for the dedication and support that has been given to them over the years by the very passionate and considerate council staff."
Other Liberal councillors have said they do not support Cr Crasnich's views, with Cr John Dorahy admitting at Monday's meeting that he had admonished his colleague for previous statements.
"While I congratulated him for having gumption to express his views, I also lambasted him for making these comments in this way," Cr Dorahy said yesterday.
"I'm disappointed Bede is continuing along this line, because there are other ways to get your point across," he said.
