Teen tied up in Albion Park home invasion

Lake Illawarra police are hunting a man accused of breaking into a house at Albion Park and robbing the teenage occupant.

The 17-year-old victim heard noises coming from the kitchen of his home on Ashburton Drive about 1pm today.

He went to investigate and came face-to-face with the intruder, who demanded money.

The teen handed over a sum of cash, then was pushed into the bedroom, given some directions and tied up.

He freed himself once the intruder had left and later contacted his parents, then police.

The man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance; 40-50 years old, with a medium build and unshaven face. He was about 160cm-165cm tall and wore a green baseball cap with a red emblem on the front, a white T-shirt - possibly paint-spattered - with the word Dulux on the front. He wore brown work boots and possibly gardening gloves.

Police are asking anyone with information about the man to make contact via Crime Stoppers - 1800 333 000 - or the Lake Illawarra Police Station - 4232 5599.
