SCG COUNTRY CUP
Lake Illawarra opener Kerrod White destroyed Oak Flats with bat and ball, while Corrimal also booked a quarter-final spot in the SCG Country Cup following a gripping tie against Balgownie.
In a game reduced to a T20 due to a damp outfield, Corrimal posted 7-139, with Balgownie replying with 9-139 with Corrimal winning on countback having lost fewer wickets.
The decision to play the match was a disputed one with the home side, Bally, desperate to play with a washout enough for Corrimal to advance to the last eight as the higher-seeded team.
After being sent in, Corrimal batted well, led by Kurtis Trindall (27), Tom McDevitt (26) and skipper Rob Fisher (25). Cam Nupier took 2-26 for Bally.
In the seven-an-over required run chase, Nupier (30), skipper Adam Berwick (24) and Corbin Brown (20) gave Bally a chance.
Heading into Peter Kilby’s final over, Bally were nine down and needed 14 for victory.
Needing five to win off the final ball, James Fleming smashed a boundary for a tie, but Corrimal won on countback.
In the South Coast round of 16 Cup clash at Howard Fowles Oval, White hammered 104 and then took 4-18.
White and opening partner Tony McCabe (34) put on 94, with White making 104 out of 158 in a match reduced to 48 overs.
The Cup quarter-finals and semi-finals will be hosted by South Coast on December 28 and 29.
