Drivers are being reminded to leave plenty of time to park and get to the venue ahead of Tuesday’s Wiggles concert at WIN Entertainment Centre.
The popularity of the skivvy-clad singers among the preschool set can cause parking chaos on the streets of Wollongong as parents vie for the most pram-friendly spot.
Business development and marketing manager for WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres, Marc Swan, said that as well as pay-and-display parking in the CBD, parking was available at WIN Stadium, across from the Chifley Hotel.
He also suggested people consider using the Gong Shuttle and advised them of the venue’s website for more parking information.
‘‘The key message as well is for people to leave plenty of time to arrive at the venue and get settled before the show starts,’’ he said.
He said the entertainment centre was opening its doors at 8.45am for the 10am show to allow the estimated crowd of 3000 enough time to get comfortable.
A Wollongong City Council spokesman suggested people heading to the concert use other council car parks and catch the free shuttle or other public transport to make their way from there.
He reminded people to only park in dedicated parking spaces and not other areas.
In 2008, more than 100 parking fines were issued to Wiggles concert-goers who parked illegally near the venue.
