Arthur Bosanquet, 59, received a 12-month suspended jail sentence on appeal in 2010 after admitting to devising a bogus university study in which he tricked three young men into masturbating in front of him in 1999 and 2007.
He was subsequently disqualified from re-registering as a dentist for 3½ years in 2012.
Bosanquet yesterday fronted the court on a single charge of inciting a person over 16 to commit an act of indecency and three charges of common assault, believed to have been laid by police in November this year.
Bosanquet's lawyer, Aaron Kernaghan, briefly mentioned the matter on his client's behalf, requesting that it be stood over until the new year.
Mr Kernaghan told the Mercury outside the court that his client would "vigorously defend" the charges against him.
Prosecuting sergeant Shannon Ryan told the court the police would prosecute the case, rather than a representative from the Director of Public Prosecutions, and said it was currently being referred to a specialist unit within the force for consideration.
The police case against Bosanquet was not revealed yesterday; however, charge sheets say the alleged incident occurred in March 2007 at Fairy Meadow and involved a 21-year-old male.
Bosanquet was originally ordered to spend at least six months behind bars over the 1999 and 2007 matters, however, successfully appealed to have the penalty reduced to a suspended sentence.
The matter will return to court on January 14.
