The Wilkinson family of Flinders have given light, laughter and joy to thousands of people over the last decade with their Christmas displays, but in 2013, they decided to give a little extra.
Every Friday and Saturday night in December, Santa and Mrs Claus - as well as two helpful little elves - are greeting families who visit the Wilkinsons' home in Tyrrel Street.
Coming up on the last weekend before Christmas, the family are asking visitors to show their appreciation with donations to the Wollongong Hospital children's ward.
"We wanted to go a bit further this year, and collect donations for a good cause," Tania Wilkinson said.
"We're fortunate that we haven't had our children in [the children's ward], but a close friend has a girl in there now and other family members have had children in there, and we've always heard great things about the work they do."
With a set of Yuletide inflatables including a Santa's workshop, and 14,000 synchronised lights adorning their roof, the Wilkinsons' Christmas display is a formidable one. A month of preparation goes into a display like theirs, and the family are keen to share their hard work with the community at large.
The Wilkinsons' house will be receiving a visit from Santa at 8pm tonight and tomorrow.
Donations to the children's ward will be accepted throughout the weekend.
