Hot on the heels of young back-rower Tyson Frizell committing to the Red V for another four years, St George Illawarra continued their aggressive retention policy by locking up Stockwell.
The 21-year-old became a permanent fixture in Steve Price’s top grade squad last season after debuting in 2012.
‘‘The decision was a fairly simple one to make in the end, having progressed through the club’s various youth teams, and I look forward to being a part of the club’s future,’’ Stockwell said.
The Picton junior has already played 23 NRL games to date and has been touted for higher representative honours.
Coach Steve Price, who will unleash a young pack in 2014, said he was delighted with Stockwell’s decision to remain with the joint venture before rival clubs circled.
‘‘Jack is an exciting young player who works extremely hard and continues to improve with each training session and game,’’ Price said.
‘‘Jack is very highly regarded by his team mates and shows maturity beyond his years.
‘‘He always gives his all on the field and I see him competing hard for a regular place in the front row.’’
