And no, it's not the kind of first birthday party with scary clowns and fairy bread you're all thinking of, it's for local music blog Bear Media and will include some kick-butt local bands as well as an Aria award nominee to celebrate.
Guitarist in local band Go Away Everyone, Ben Abraham, and fellow music lover Emily Lonsdale are the two brains behind Bear Media and since it's been 12 months since their online blog started, they decided to put on a show for the music lovers of Wollongong.
Sydney indie rockers Papa vs Pretty are the headline act for the night and will be releasing their new album White Deer Park in the coming months.
These guys have been nominated for an Aria award and their new film clip Smother has been getting some sweet air time on Channel V. Many local indie lovers will be lining up to see these guys, no doubt.
Another top band on the night will be Wollongong locals Dlinkwnt who have been flaunting their hip-hop/funk/reggae tunes all over the country in the latest National Campus Band Competition.
Without Parachutes are one of the newer local bands around town and have a fat indie-rock sound. Triple J presenter Dave Ruby Howe says their single It's Time Again has a "big menacing vibe with Soundgarden-sized riffs and stadium ambitions".
We're Wolf, previously known as Tainted Fist, is the final local band that will be rocking out on the night. These guys have a solid indie electro-pop sound, which the kids love so much these days.
Catch these bands live at Bear Media's first birthday party at The Den, Wollongong, on Saturday from 6pm.
