A 46-year-old man has been charged with murdering his sister, 52-year-old Therese Brown, at their home in Bulli last Friday.
David Brown was charged at his Royal North Shore Hospital bed, where he has been under police guard on Wednesday.
He did not apply for bail.
Mr Brown attended Gladesville Police Station suffering a single stab wound to his chest, believed to be self-inflicted, about 6am on Friday.
He reportedly told officers a woman was dead inside his Hobart Street house.
Wollongong police found the body of Ms Brown with multiple stab wounds.
Mr Brown is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court via video link on January 15.
