The waterfront restaurant ceased operating and was handed over to joint voluntary administrators Darren Vardy and Ian Purchas of SV Partners last Friday.
Mr Vardy said he could not comment on the future of the venue until the investigation had concluded.
‘‘We are discussing the position with the stakeholders and the landlord but at this stage there is no comment as to what’s going to happen and whether it will reopen,’’ he said.
In a statement issued earlier in the week by DConsult Pty Limited, trading as Rocksalt Bar & Grill, the restaurant’s troubles were attributed to ‘‘a series of complex ongoing issues’’ not foreseen by the company’s sole director, Deanna Lea.
The closure has left a number of people who bought or received Rocksalt gift vouchers wondering whether they will be able to redeem them.
Posts have been left on the restaurant’s Facebook page regarding the vouchers and the Illawarra Mercury has received calls from disgruntled customers confused as to whether their vouchers were now worthless.
Mr Vardy said the administrators and creditors were working towards a solution and advised anyone with questions about vouchers bought from the restaurant or coupons for discounted seafood platters from Groupon, to contact the administrator’s Wollongong office on 42274086.
Mr Vardy did not yet know how many people had vouchers.
On Monday a post on the Facebook page also advised customers who had vouchers from Groupon to contact the website directly.
‘‘Groupon has today advised us that they will be contacting all customers with unused vouchers to offer them a refund. Alternatively, customers are invited to contact their customer care team on 1300962032,’’ the post said.
