The one-night closure of Keira Street between Crown and Market streets is to change the traffic flow from the two lanes on the eastern side to those on the western side.
The changes will allow work to continue on the underground tunnel linking the development with Crown Central.
The tunnel work on the western side is completed and construction crews now need to commence digging the tunnel underneath the two eastern lanes and into Crown Central.
The road closure has been moved to Monday, January 20 between 9pm and 5am due to some changes in the construction schedule, said GPT West Keira development manager Steven Turner.
‘‘We have completed some re-sequencing of our construction works this week and the change of date to next Monday evening allows the construction team to complete some additional works, to further minimise the impact on the community,’’ Mr Turner said.
‘‘We thank the community for their patience as we continue to create a new city experience.’’
During the excavation of the tunnel, a section of the footpath on the eastern side will be closed.
Pedestrians heading in or out of the city will have to walk along the footpath on the western side of Keira Street.
