$50k for kids' education

Parents will pay at least $50,000 to send each of their children to school until year 12, according to estimates by the Australian Scholarships Group.

The figure includes school fees, uniforms, extracurricular activities, inflation, and calculates the total cost for a child born in 2014 to attend preschool through to year 12.

Government schooling in regional NSW will cost parents $53,260, including $22,425 for primary school and $28,245 for high school.

Parents sending children to systemic schools, such as Catholic schools, can expect to pay $161,374 over the course of their child’s education, or $344,678 for a private school.
