Councillors battle to reject $55m City Hub

Shellharbour councillors Peter Moran and Kellie Marsh are taking their battle against the $55 million City Hub project to the public, calling on ratepayers to put forward their views on the issue.

The councillors have called a public meeting on Sunday at Oak Flats Neighbourhood Centre.

"I'm really concerned about the idea of selling significant council assets such as the old council chambers in order to pay for this Taj Mahal," Cr Marsh said.

"Council has asked the community for comment on what should go in the hub, and what design should be chosen. They have never given the community the opportunity to say no to the hub.

"This is the public's chance to make their views known to the council."

Opponents of the City Hub, pictured, have had no success in stopping its progress through council, but Cr Marsh has vowed to "fight it until the absolute death".

Cr Moran said he was concerned about the financial and social costs of the hub.
