The federal government has confirmed it will honour the previous Labor government's pledge to provide $2.5 million for trades skills centres at two schools in the Throsby electorate.

The centres, previously known as trades training centres, will tackle the current skills shortage and allow students to leave school with a part qualification for a trade.
Dapto High School will use its share of the funding to build a commercial kitchen for students studying hospitality, while Chevalier College, at Bowral, will deliver qualifications in agriculture and construction.
Illawarra-based Liberal senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells said training would strengthen future job opportunities.
