Earlier this week, NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay touted the state's record when it came to heavy vehicle inspection, stating there were more than 280 "front-line inspectors and investigators".
"They carry out more than three million screenings through checking stations and more than 300,000 intercepts and detailed inspections every year," Mr Gay said.
"This is the largest and most comprehensive enforcement and compliance regime in the country."
Mr Gay said NSW spent more than $70 million a year on truck enforcement, which was more than half of the $130 million spent across Australia.
"NSW is working to change behaviour across the heavy vehicle industry by leading the way with our comprehensive inspection and enforcement regime," Mr Gay said.
In December, Toll Group acquired the Port Kembla business Nationwide Transport Solutions.
Toll Group spokesman Christopher Whitefield praised the government's efforts to improve the safety of heavy vehicles on the road.
"Toll welcomes efforts from regulators in all states to ensure the transport industry as a whole operates under the highest of safety standards," Mr Whitefield said.
"Reputable transport companies like Toll recognise you can't just follow safety rules - you have to live and breathe them.
"Toll expects all of its businesses and their contractors to operate according to the law at all times, and will continue to proactively work with transport regulators across the country to improve the safety and efficiency of both our business and the industry as a whole."
