The man was left with a bloodied and fractured nose, and an eastbound lane on Burelli Street was blocked, after he was clipped by the side mirror of a passing truck at around 11.30am.
Witnesses said the man stepped out from the gutter at the corner of Burelli and Church Street while the truck had a green light, and was knocked to the ground.
Paramedics said the man was taken to Wollongong Hospital with a fractured nose and suspected facial fractures.
