The Kanahooka couple met on dating website RSVP after Samantha, 28, built up the courage to create a profile.
‘‘Rod was the first man I met on there and the last,’’ she said.
‘‘It’s been about four years now, and when I noticed Valentine’s Day was free for a wedding, I thought, ‘What better way is there to celebrate than on the most romantic day of the year?’’’
Rod, 34, said the February 14 wedding meant he was sure to remember their anniversary in the years to come.
The couple wed at the Mount Keira Scout Camp, where Rod spent about five years as a scout in his early teens.
‘‘It’s such a beautiful location,’’ he said.
Almost 100 guests attended the celebration, later dancing and dining at the City Beach Function Centre, Wollongong.
Mr and Mrs Carter will now spend 12 nights on a cruise around Vanuatu for their honeymoon.
