Jarrod Poort's purple patch of form shows no signs of abating as he took out the Australian Open Water Championships at Geelong yesterday.
A week after claiming the Australian title in the men's open 10-kilometre event at Perth, Poort snagged the double in 2014 with victory in the 5-kilometre event.
The Wollongong swimmer hit the gate in a time of 59:14.39, defending his crown from 12 months ago and fuelling confidence before the Pan Pacific Championships on the Gold Coast later this year.
Queensland clubmates Sam Sheppard and George O'Brien rounded out the top three, finishing five and seven seconds adrift of Poort respectively.
Western Australia's Sacha Downing won the women's open 5-kilometre race in a time of 1:05:27.42.
