Joe Mungovan will take to the stage twice on opening night, March 7, once with his solo acoustic act and later as drummer for local powerhouses Tommy M & The Mastersounds.
He said he was looking forward to joining fellow young guns including Dlinkwnt, James Vann and Genevieve Chadwick, also on the festival program, which runs from March 7 to 9.
"It's great to see that people my age aren't all just listening to DJs, and are enjoying playing or listening to this type of live music," Mungovan said.
Born and bred in Kiama, Mungovan said the festival weekend was one of the highlights of the year.
"You walk down the street, and every second or third shop has music coming out of it. It's great to hear so much music in my home town," he said.
The Kiama Jazz and Blues festival celebrates its 29th anniversary this year, with 60 free gigs in 30 venues across the weekend.
