Late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence had plans to leave British TV presenter Paula Yates at the time of his death, bandmate Kirk Pengilly says.

‘‘Just prior to his death that week or so, what he told me, he had a plan in place to basically split up from Paula, what can I say, that’s what he told me,’’ Pengilly told the Seven network on Sunday night.

‘‘But ... it’s all very personal stuff and a long time ago too, I don’t want to dwell on it,’’ Pengilly said.

Pengilly, who played the saxophone in the much loved Australian band, has kept this information a secret from the public until now.

He also seemed to suggest in Sunday’s interview that perhaps Hutchence was feeling trapped in his complicated relationship with Yates.

‘‘It seems that perhaps that Paula had a mission from a long time ago to get Michael .. and maybe he couldn’t, you know, he couldn’t get out of her web,’’ Pengilly told Seven.

Fellow bandmate Tim Farris also touched on Hutchence’s relationship with Yates, saying ‘‘He was always so upset about what was happening with Bob and Paula and the girls.’’

Hutchence and Yates, who was married to Boomtown Rats star Bob Geldof at the time, began their relationship in 1995.

They had a daughter Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily in 1996.A year later Hutchence was found dead in his hotel room at the Ritz Carlton in Sydney on November 22.

Yates died of a heroin overdose in September 2000.

Harry Styles splits from Kendall Jenner

Pop star Harry Styles has split from his model girlfriend Kendall Jenner, according to a British report.

The One Direction star was first linked to Kim Kardashian’s younger half-sister late last year, and was pictured enjoying a skiing trip with the socialite over the New Year break.

However, they’ve now ended the romance because of conflicting work schedules, according to Britain’s The Sun on Sunday newspaper.

A source tells the publication, ‘‘Kendall has been focusing on modelling and Harry is preparing for work on the band’s fourth album, as well as their stadium tour.

The reality is that with everything going on it’s impossible to sustain anything serious.’’

Styles has previously been linked to stars including fellow pop singer Taylor Swift.

Jennifer Lawrence plans year-long hiatus

Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence is to take a year-long hiatus from Hollywood, according to movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

The 23-year-old actress has enjoyed stellar success over the last few years, starring in blockbuster franchises such as The Hunger Games and X-Men movies.

She won her first Oscar in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook, and is up for another Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards for American Hustle.

But Weinstein has now revealed the young actress is planning to step out of the spotlight for a year once she completes all her work commitments.

He tells Britain’s The Sun on Sunday, ‘‘She’s going to have a long break for a year where she won’t do anything. It’s been non-stop for her and she deserves a rest... Jennifer is too nice and will do people favours and agrees to do a movie like American Hustle when she could have had a rest.’’ Weinstein said.

Nudity is part of my job: Kate Winslet

British actress Kate Winslet admits she doesn’t enjoy nude scenes.

Winslet has never seemed afraid of baring all onscreen and famously stripped down for intimate parts in The Reader.

While she believes it’s important to be open to the idea, it’s not something she’s keen on.

‘‘It’s not something one enjoys necessarily,’’ she’s told Total Film. ‘‘I think that would be a very honest and fair thing to say. But it’s sometimes a part of my job.’’

In 1997, Winslet took on the iconic role of Leonardo DiCaprio’s love interest in Titanic.

The 38-year-old Oscar winner was then, and still is, considered one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, but she believes there’s no need for being immaculate.

‘‘As I get older, I really don’t care what people think of me and the way I look ... I don’t have that physical insecurity anymore,’’ she said. ‘‘I just don’t have it. Plus I do feel very determined that if I’m called to do any level of nudity on screen, I have to look like myself. The idea of that whole perfect thing makes me so crazy.’’

Metallica moving ahead with music

Metallica aren’t going to procrastinate over their new album anymore.

The iconic band haven’t released any new music since their successful 2008 offering Death Magnetic.

However, Guitarist Kirk Hammett insists the rockers are currently in the midst of getting back in the studio.

‘‘Yes,’’ he laughed to Kerrang! magazine when asked whether all four members - himself and James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo - will be working on a new record this year.

‘‘We cannot think of any other reasons to procrastinate; of any other things to put on the calendar to push back that date. We’re kind of backed up into the corner now, so yes, we have to start working on the album. And I’m so excited. James has, like, 800 riffs. I only have about 400, but there’s not going to be any shortage of ideas. It’s going to be interesting to see how it turns out.’’

Hammett insists the only reason for the delay is because the musicians have enjoyed spending time with their families.

Now they are planning new material he admits they feel more ready than ever and have enjoyed using their fame for different ventures, not just music.
