A host of records tumbled as the region's top young athletes bathed in gold at the recent two-day Little Athletics NSW Region 4 carnival at Kerryn McCann Athletic Field.

Wollongong co-hosted the carnival and had 70 entries, including record-breakers Jarrod Twigg and Liam Henderson. The national under-15 hurdles champion, Twigg set a meet record winning the under-15 100m and 200m hurdle events, and won a third gold in the 100m sprint.
Middle-distance star Henderson set a new mark in winning the under-17 1500m and 3000m events.
Albion Park had three record breakers - Jessica Hull set a new mark winning the girls under-17 800m, 1500m and 3000m events. Jye Edwards broke the record for the under-17 800m and clubmate Connor Grozde threw a record in the under-15 javelin.
Shoalhaven's Jade Mustapic set a record in the under-13 800m and clubmate Samantha Peace broke the under-15 discus mark.
Albion Park's Jarrod Falconer won gold in the under-13 long jump, triple jump, 200m and 100m events. Wollongong's Manuela Piljevic won gold in the under-8 100m, 200m, 400m and 700m.
Lake Illawarra star Georgia McEwan won gold in the under-14 200m hurdles, 200m and 100m sprint events.
Connor Grozde (under-15s) won gold in the javelin, shot put and discus events.
Wollongong's Josh Bell also won a hat-trick of gold medals in the under-17 100m, 200m and 400m races, while Albion Park's Kalani Vella took gold in the under-8 long jump, 700m and 60m hurdles.
