Illawarra surfing legend Terry Richardson has put his East Corrimal home on the market for offers above $899,000.
The four-bedroom home at 21 Aldridge Avenue is set on a level and private 678-square-metre block.
Agent Jayne Langford of Peter Taranto Real Estate said the former professional surfer was selling his home because it was too big for him and he has decided to downsize.
"He is thinking of heading down south for the perfect wave and a place to rest his board, boat and fishing rod," Ms Langford said.
Richo, as he is affectionately known, shapes and makes his own surfboards, and is remembered as one of the era's greatest tube riders.
"It will be hard for Terry to leave his very spacious family home, but Terry's loss will be one lucky family's gain," Ms Langford said.
The property has two living rooms, which are separated by an open-plan stylish kitchen/dining area that flows out to a covered courtyard, and two bathrooms.
The master bedroom has an en-suite and Juliet balcony with ocean glimpses.
She said the property's greatest asset was its location - only 400 metres to the beach.
"I should add it's a dog- friendly beach and arguably one of the best surf beaches in the Illawarra," Ms Langford said.
"The lagoon, with its natural sand dunes, is just minutes away."
Richo's board room and gym are in the double lock-up garage in the backyard, with two covered entertainment areas and large carport for the boat and beach toys.
The property is open for inspection on Saturday from 1pm to 1:45pm and tomorrow from 1pm to 1.45pm.
Jamberoo style
One of Jamberoo's finest residential homes, with views of the rural landscape and the escarpment, is on the market.
The four-bedroom house at 79 Churchill Street, known as Araluen (pictured above), is a large family home set on 2150 square metres, with northwest-facing outdoor areas, pool and gardens.
Built in 1987 of brick and tile with Bundanoon Sand Stock feature bricks, the property has first-class finishings and fittings.
Listed with Vivienne Marris of Elders Jamberoo, its features include fully insulated walls and ceilings, solar power back to the grid and mains electricity, intercom to the front gate and security, two Jetmaster fireplaces and three bathrooms.
The master bedroom has an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe with separate access to north-facing verandahs.
Ms Marris said the foyer and entrance hall have stained glass windows and an impressive staircase to the first floor.
The ground floor comprises a timber and granite country kitchen, formal lounge and dining room, family room, rumpus, study, bathroom, laundry and access to double garage and workshop area.
The first-floor landing offers entry to the master suite, three bedrooms and the full-length verandah, which takes in views of the Jamberoo countryside.
The verandah off the kitchen and rumpus room lead to the garden, swimming pool, gazebo, covered barbecue area, large veggie patch and aviaries.
Inspections are available through Ms Marris. The sale price is upon application.
Thirties gem
A charming and original 1930s full brick and tile residence in Mangerton will go to auction later this month.
Listed with David Geary of MMJ Real Estate - Wollongong, the property at 36 McKenzie Avenue (pictured above) is set on more than 670 square metres, with a private tree-screened yard.
Mr Geary said the property was in excellent condition for its age. The original home has an extension on the back, which converts the residence to a spacious four-bedroom property.
Its features include a large formal lounge with open fireplace, formal dining room, family sitting area, period kitchen and bathroom. The roomy lock-up garage adjoins a workshop and extra storage area.
The home is open for inspection on Saturday from 10.30 to 11.30am. It will go to auction on Saturday, March 22, at 11.30am with a price guide of more than $490,000.
New office opens
Husband and wife team Danny and Diana Mojanovski have opened a new Ray White office at Fairy Meadow.
Mr Mojanovski said they launched the business at a time when the property market was on the up, interest rates were low and Illawarra clearance rates were at a high point.
"There's not enough property on the market here," he said.
"Most people move in and stay, particularly in Balgownie and Mount Ousley. Once a property is on the market, everyone will want to see it. Stock is tight so there's always buyer interest and low rental vacancies."
He has a background in commercial real estate, Mrs Mojanovski has worked in finance, and they have clear aspirations.
"We want to be known as the local market leaders," Mr Mojanovski said. "We're all about the gentleman's handshake and are very much 'word-is-our-word' people."
