Helensburgh residents have greater choice in grocery shopping with the expanded BI-LO supermarket officially opening as a new-look market-style Coles supermarket this week.
The refurbished Coles Helensburgh store has introduced more than 900 new grocery lines to the store, with an extended range of cooking, cleaning and health food products on shelves.
The new store also includes a Coles bakery with an expanded range of artisan breads, fresh fruit and vegetables on ice and a Scoop and Weigh bar that allows customers to pick and pack their own loose food products, such as nuts and seeds.
Store manager Brad Smithers said as part of the refurbishment process the business listened to customer feedback and was confident the changes made reflected their needs.
A Coles spokesman said the Helensburgh refurbishment came just six months after the supermarket chain created 65 new local jobs at its Fairy Meadow store.
And throughout the Illawarra and South Coast region last year Coles created 400 new jobs. It now employs 1700 people between Batemans Bay and Thirroul.
When the expansion of the Warrawong, Berkeley and Figtree stores and the new stores at Fairy Meadow and Shellharbour are taken into account, Coles has invested $17 million in the region during the past 12 months.
The new Coles Helensburgh is located at 19 Walker Street, Helensburgh, and is open from 7am to 10pm from Monday to Saturday and from 7am to 9pm on Sundays.
