Real soldiers help turn war trauma to drama

The traumatic experiences of returned soldiers and their families is explored in The Long Way Home, a play using real soldiers which opened last night at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre.

A collaboration between Sydney Theatre Company and the Australian Defence Force, it stars 12 soldiers and four professional actors delving into the stories of servicemen and women returning from conflict in Afghanistan, Iraq and East Timor.

The confronting and visceral production is on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, with a Saturday matinee. See for details.
